There’s a reason why director William Friedkin’s legendary 1973 masterpiece of horror THE EXORCIST remains the Top Grossing Horror Film of All Time, adjusted for inflation (and the #9 film overall). At once a powerful examination of the loss of faith (the focus of author William Peter Blatty’s bestselling source novel), and a terrifying cinematic experience unlike any audiences has seen before, Warner Bros.’ took a gamble delivering one of the most graphic and uncompromising horror films Hollywood has ever produced, scoring a major hit that would emerge as one of the vanguard films of the horror genre.

Experience THE EXORCIST on the big screen October 9 and 10 at 7:30pm, and October 15 at 5:30pm and 8pm - only at The Frida!

Soon after sweet 12-year-old Regan (Oscar-nominee Linda Blair) discovers a ouija board in the Washington D.C. house she shares with her actress mother Chris (Oscar-nominee Ellen Burstyn), she begins exhibiting strange behavior – something that is initially written off as psychological distress, until the objects around her start acting weird as well. Confounded by the strange goings-on in her home, coupled by her daughter’s increasing penchant for horrific profanity, Chris seeks help from the medical and psychiatric fields, only to find those individuals equally baffled by the strange phenomenon afflicted her daughter. A local priest (Oscar-nominee Jason Miller), however, thinks the girl may be seized by the devil – but he’ll need the help from an elderly priest (Max von Sydow) who has had his own experience with demonic possession if he’s able to save poor Regan.

We will be presenting the “EXTENDED DIRECTOR’S CUT” of The Exorcist, released in 2000 and featuring remastered stereo sound and a pristine digital restoration, as well as 11 minutes edited from the original 1973 release.
