Flashmob to Form Giant 99% (Filmed by Octocopter) to Oppose CITIZENS UNITED

Join us this Saturday morning at 11am as hundreds of Angelinos gather at the “ALL IN FOR THE 99%” pop-up gallery to form a massive aerial art image to protest the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision.

The whole thing will be filmed from the air by a remote control octocopter, and then turned into a video and photograph representing our collective opposition to the Citizens United ruling and a call for real campaign finance reform.

Our aerial human art piece will kick-off the “ALL IN FOR THE 99%” pop-up art show. After the aerial, stick around for the rest of the day - there will be lots of great art (Robbie Conal, Shepard Fairey, Swoon) and hundreds more, plus Val Kilmer performing as Mark Twain, a speech by Van Jones, Funny or Die’s Jason Alexander, and tons more.

The event is free and open to the public.

THE GREAT ESCAPE, 1963, Park Circus, 172 min. Dir. John Sturges. Superlative WWII drama chronicling the real-life, large-scale prison camp escape of Allied POWs in Germany, featuring Steve McQueen in his (literally) breakout role as Captain Virgil Hilts, “The Cooler King.” Nail-biting suspense and exhilarating action are punctuated with just the right amount of raucous humor, aided by composer Elmer Bernstein’s rousing score. With James Garner, Charles Bronson, James Coburn, Richard Attenborough, James Donald and Donald Pleasence. [35mm]

Book signing in the Egyptian lobby at 6:30 PM of Neile Adams’ ‘My Husband, My Friend.’ Adams and McQueen were married for 15 years, from 1956 – 1972. Introduction by Adams.
