CONCRETE WALLS PROJECTS at PØST 1904 East 7th Place Los Angeles, CA 90021 USA 213 4881280     CASE STUDY:  LØS ANGELES Curated by Devon Tsuno   July 2011 Kamikaze Exhibits One-day-exhibit:  Friday, July 1, 7 – 9pm Brian Boyer, Justin Dahlberg, Calvin Lee, Susan Logoreci, Matt Logue, Alia Malley, Omar Ogues, Greg Rose, Shizu Saldamando, Marie Thibeault   Concrete Walls Projects presents a one-day exhibit organized for PØST’s July 2011 Kamikaze Exhibits series titled, Case Study:  Løs Angeles.  This exhibition is a curatorial case study, examining work by artists whose practice involves rigorous modes of research, as they document the microcosms of subculture and landscape that is the greater Los Angeles area.  But unlike traditional gallery exhibits, which primarily function as an expedient dialogue between buyer and seller; the artist run space can subvert that dialogue, while maintaining a gallery’s purpose, in order to create a conversation among artists.  This exhibit is designed to reveal diverse hypotheses in artistic investigation, in an effort to attain a community exchange and discourse among artists. These ten artists arouse the dialogue, as they work within the constraints of the two-dimensional picture plane to obsessively document and rediscover the ever-changing definition of Los Angeles.   Case studies:  Los Angeles punk, Mount Waterman, Rodeo Drive socialites, Idyllwild, illegal downtown LA fix gear bicycle racing, LA Harbor, The Museum of Contemporary Art, Exposition, and the 405 freeway.   facebook _______________________________________________________________ July 2011 Kamikaze Exhibits In the month of July, PØST will present thirty-one different exhibits.  The July 2011 Kamikaze exhibits continue in the same tradition of thirty or thirty-one Kamikaze exhibits that were presented at PØST in September of 2009, July 2010 and January of 2011. Difficult times invite difficult gestures. By design, these exhibits remain close to art and distant from the other stuff. A book will be produced for each Kamikaze month.   Other Kamikaze Artist-curators Daniel Aksten, Young An, Dawn Arrowsmith, Kireilyn Barber, Nathan Bockelman, Kathrin Burmester, Carolyn Castaño, Angel Chen, Alice Clements, Marjan Hormozi,Bettina Hubby, Susan Joseph, Alice Könitz, Kristi Lippire, Jay Lizo, Farrah Karapetian, Karen Lofgren, Barry Markowitz, Sandeep Mukherjee, Chris Oliveria, Jim Ovelmen, Dylan Palmer, Joan Perlman, Mary Anna Pomonis, Danny Shain, Alysse Stepanian, Coleen Sterritt, Steven Lee Stinnett, Devon Tsuno, Denver Tuttle, HK Zamani.     For more information contact HK Zamani at 213 4881280, send an email to, visit,, orØST/127724447253272

The Labyrinth of Jareth XIV

The Fantasy Masquerade Ball 2011
Fourteenth Annual Celebration

July 1st and July 2nd

Within the glorious Park Plaza
607 S. Park View Street; Los Angeles, CA

The Labyrinth of Jareth is a Masquerade Ball based on Venetian tradition, Celtic faerie and goblin lore, and stories of fantasy and wonder. Lost within the borders of chaos and light, nobles dance among the Fey while goblins wait with hungry eyes in the wings of their court. Some of the most amazing fantasy artists, costumers and special effects crews participate in bringing a diverse host of creatures and mythologies alive each year.

This Masquerade is one of the few classical events open to ANYONE who has dreamed of a surrealistic fantasy fading into a single night of dance and revelry. Music and visuals heighten your senses as the night shields the Goblin Court and the chambers surrounding it. Celebrating our fourteenth masquerade and pooling together all that we’ve learned, the artists of Sypher Studios continue to proudly offer this night to those with the imagination and heart to enjoy it.

Within the Royal Court:
We offer a night of music, art, entertainment, faerie revels and enchantment among the elements and the Goblin Courts. . . See the confirmed entertainment :

Your hosts:
SYPHER ART STUDIOS | The ever chaotic group of artists that host the LOJ each year through stories, sculpture and light!

Anaheim Wizard Comic Con 2011 Trip Report - Friday, April 29 - Sunday, May 1, 2011 - Anaheim Convention Center

h1 Saturday, June 18th, 2011

Written by Rick A Mortis

Pictures provided by Elvis Lover & Sir Powers

Wow what a difference a year can make. This year Anaheim Wizard Con moved into the main building and took up a large footprint of the main bottom floor with guns a blazing. It was a nice mix of artists. vendors, autograph booths and fan groups. The programing was found upstairs and was entertaining,  well thought out and varied. Saturday had a huge turn out with tons of people done up in amazing costumes.  There are tons of pics on this post so if your connection is kinda slow, I suggest starting knitting that new cape. A few highlights and special shout outs to some great booths as well as a few of the amazing panels this year. The Batman anniversary reunion panel, the costume contest and Darth Maul himself Ray Parks.

The Muppets - Green With Envy Teaser

h1 Friday, June 17th, 2011

While it has been out for a few weeks we still love this. Check out the teaser trailer titled Green With Envy which spoofs romantic comedies for The Muppet movie coming out in November. The film is starring Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, and the rest of the Muppets. There are also lots of cameos which really make a Muppet movie.

The plot is:

On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate.
