BLUE VELVET - Midnight Screening - Friday, March 4, 2011 - Mondo Celluloid - Art Theatre - Long Beach

h1 Monday, February 28th, 2011
David Lynch’s BLUE VELVET kicks off our month-long tribute to David Lynch!

Winner of over 15 international awards, and nominated for a Best Director Oscar, David Lynch’s BLUE VELVET was truly unlike any American film that had ever come before. A sometimes nightmarish, sometimes hilarious blend of realism and surrealism, set in a quiet lumber town (appropriately called Lumberton) with a bevy of violent and perverse secrets, and peppered with colorful characters matched perfectly with the explosive performances of the actors who portray them, BLUE VELVET stunned audiences and critics alike by managing to take a story peppered with violence, masochism, See More

Tangaroa Terrace and Trader Sam’s at Disneyland Hotel

h1 Monday, February 28th, 2011

Finally Disney announced the new Tangaroa Terrace restaurant last week. I just hope that Trader Sam’s is a really cool Tiki lounge:

Artist Rendering of Tangaroa Terrace at the Disneyland Hotel

Many of you may remember our announcement last spring about the ongoing Disneyland Hotel renovation. This exciting project gives the hotel a retro theme with a contemporary twist and adds historic and nostalgic elements of Disneyland park, circa the 1950s. Read the rest of this entry

Disney O Rama! Mermaids, music and Droids! Opening dates for The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure, Mickey’s Soundsational Parade, and Star Tours - The Adventures Continue - Disneyland & Disney California Adventure

h1 Monday, February 28th, 2011

The Official opening dates for a bunch of new and revamped stuff is posted. Here’s the update:

As days get longer and the weather gets warmer (well, hopefully!), we are very excited about summer 2011 at the Disneyland Resort. And today I’m thrilled to share the grand opening dates for three new experiences headed your way.

Grand opening June 3: At Disney California Adventure park, get ready for an all-new voyage with one of Disney’s most beloved characters, Ariel. The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure will invite guests to take a journey under the sea to experience all the fun and adventures in Ariel’s world. From the great songs to state-of-the-art animatronics and special effects, guests will become a part of her world in a way that’s never happened before.

The Little Mermaid attraction is the next big milestone in the expansion of Disney California Adventure park. “World of Color” debuted last year and continues to wow guests every night with magic that combines choreographed fountains, lights, lasers, music, animation and Disney storytelling. And on the horizon, guests can see the awesome Cadillac Mountain range taking shape as the backdrop to the 12-acre Cars Land, which opens in 2012.

Here’s a first look at the vision Walt Disney Imagineers have for Ursula, who will play a big role in The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure.

Ursula of The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel's Undersea Adventure

Across the esplanade at Disneyland park, guests this summer will be dancing to the beat of a whole new parade and jetting off to new galaxies far, far away. Read the rest of this entry

Potter Day Lite: Sunday, March 13, 2011 - Harry Potter Day At Disneyland & Disney California Adventure

h1 Monday, February 28th, 2011

Potter Day Lite was an experiment we began in 2010, and due to popular demand we’re revisiting it on Sunday, March 13th, 2011.

Compared to our annual November gathering, Potter Day Lite is a relatively low-key event geared towards locals and annual pass holders. If you have to traverse a great distance, save up for a one-day park-hopper ticket, or can only afford one trip to the park per year, you’re best off waiting until November 6th, 2011. That’s the event not to miss. But if you have easy access to both Disneyland and California Adventure, here’s a way to stave off your Potter Day yearnings.

Potter Day Lite involves no games, no teams, no scavenger hunts, no competition. It’s just a way for us to get together with your fellow Potter fans, fly your House colors, go on rides, eat, drink, and most importantly this time: dance, dance, DANCE! Read the rest of this entry
