Terminator Salvation - Movie Review

 Terminator Salvation

By Rick_A_Mortis

Yeah I was dragging my feet on this one. The first two Terminators are awesome. The third one was like a crappy CGI prequel Star Wars fest…yeah it almost made me like the ewoks..almost. Then I heard McG directing and PG 13 and I thought…crap.

SPOILERS AHEAD YE BE WARNED!

Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a killer is heading to his execution by lethal injection starts of movie after donating his body to Dr. Serena Kogan (Helena Bonham Carter). So the opening credits roll and my worries are set to rest. Thankfully we have no bikini clad gun toting Terminators on silver trampolings shooting machine guns. I am only giving a mini cliff notes version of the movie, and it’s all wacky because of the time travel underlining plot. The movie is set in post-apocalyptic 2018 California, Christian Bale stars as John Connor, kinda leading a human resistance against Skynet after it went a killing spree and its happy group of Cybermen I mean…Terminators. STAR TREK - Movie Review

By Rick_A_Mortis

I really never got into Star Trek. I watched a few of the classic Trek and hey who doesn’t love a tribble right? So I went in with zero expectations.

SPOILERS AHEAD YE BE WARNED!

A reboot of the series starting with the early days in the Star Trek universe, when fresh out of the academy, James T. Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto)  ’Bones’ McCoy (Karl Urban), Scotty (Simon Pegg), Uhura (Zoe Saldana), Sulu (John Cho) and Chekov (Anton Yelchin) first find themselves assigned to the U.S.S. Enterprise. Also with Ben Cross, Bruce Greenwood, Winona Ryder, Eric Bana and Leonard Nimoy. Directed by J.J. Abrams the guy behind LOST. So I figured well it should be decent atleast. This is a fun movie with a major retooling of the Trek Universe. Read the rest of this entry

Could it get any more glamorous than the French Riviera, seaside resorts and a high society jewel heist? Only if you add Cary Grant in his silver fox years and Grace Kelly at her most ravishing. Hitchcock directs this elegant, sparkling jewel of a film with a light hearted touch, and his usual wry humor. Grant plays infamous retired jewel theief and resistance hero john robie, who falls under suspicion after several jewel robberies. Heiress Kelly decides to find out the truth by romancing the charming rogue. Lavish oscar winning photography and shimmering couture wardrobe round out one of Hitchcock’s most opulent.

REVIEW: ANGELS AND DEMONS

h1 Friday, May 22nd, 2009

BY AUNTIEPANPAN

Okay…okay…I am a Ewan McGregor fan…sigh.

I have read Dan Brown’s Angels and Demons and I love this book more than the ‘Da Vinci Code’. I guess I’m odd that way. I love any book regarding the Illuminati…I like conspiracies and all sorts of psycho babble regarding cults or secret organizations. heh heh heh. Not that I would know anything about that. How I Spent My Day with the Bats In the Park.

h1 Friday, May 22nd, 2009

By AuntiePanPan

I REALLY want to paint the scene for you: Imagine if you will, an ocean of darkness swarming onto the ‘Happiest Place on Earth’?

Yep.

That’s what we could commonly reference to as the ‘Day of the Bat at the Land of the Mouse’ around here.

Firstly, for the record, I am going to speak out on a few topics that I think should be addressed, that to some, could be considered a trifle ‘taboo’…so save your complaints or complements for the end of the show.

I love this event, I really do…as much as the next goth…HOWEVER…I feel that I should bring some issues to light as a person to point out a few items:

* This is NOT the only goths converging to the park event. True it is the most publicized and longest running. HOWEVER, Goths have been converging to the park ever since there were goths. The first goth in the park event that I can remember was in 1993…But now it is more acceptable to dress whatever way you want for Bats in the Park day.  I also remember that most Faire workers that finished their tour of the Ren Faire circuits would (who were usually goth or punk) infiltrate the park on the first Saturday after there were no longer any faires to go to, it used to be a tradition.  So, there it is.

* A SPECIAL NOTE ON FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY.An incident that did happen this year at the Park was that a group of goths went into one of the most popular goth rides in the park (otherwise known as ‘home’ to some goths), and wanted to hit the ride one more time before everyone was to get in line in the group and get numbered and thought they had PLENTY OF TIME TO REGROUP. wrrrrooong. Instead some YAHOO (NOT A GOTH) right next to them on the ride brought ( I have to make sure that I get this right) a FIVE STROBE INDUSTRIAL FLASH CAMERA that should not even be out of the studio. Thus even after the management stopped the ride because of him twice, a multitude of yelling, this yahoo KEPT flashing away, taking pictures. The irony is that if he were a REAL photographer, he would KNOW that all the shots he took will turn out smoke, mirrors and glass….Thus, captain dumfuck triggered a member of the goth party next to him into a ,yes, you guessed it ladies and gentlemen! a Full Blown Grand Mal Seizure.
