Princess Leia is part of the Force. Carrie Fisher passes away at 60.

h1 Tuesday, December 27th, 2016

Editorial by Rick A Mortis

Carrie Fisher for a lot of us of a certain age will always be Princess Leia.

She was a woman that played an intergalactic princess that was smart, fast talking, brave, knew how to fire a gun, rocked giant hair buns and a infamous metal bikini. She was for many their first hero and crush.

But she was much more than this. Carrie Fisher was born from Hollywood royalty, her parents being Eddie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds. Other then the Star Wars films she could be found on screen in such classics as Shampoo, The Blues Brothers, Hannah and Her Sisters, When Harry Meet Sally, Soap Dish, The Burbs, and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back to name a few. She was also well know for her memoirs and screen writing skills for Postcards From The Edge, Young Indian Jones, The Academy Awards, The Wedding Singer, Sister Act, The Worst Awful, These Old Broads, Wishful Drinking and her last work The Princess Diarist.

Carrie Fisher was also very frank and brutally humorous while publicly speaking about suffering through addiction and being bi-polar.

Carrie Fisher passed from a heart attack at age 60 earlier this morning. We are still processing it in disbelief.

We will miss you so much our Princess.

We will keep the Rebel spirit alive and well.

We hope her family, friends and fans will appreciate a humorous send off with New Hope by Blink 182.

Much love, respect and sadness from The B Side Staff:

When doves cry…

Prince is no longer with us. He died at his Paisley Park compound this morning at age 57. Current speculation this is due to a severe flu illness which hospitalized him last week.

We here at The B Side sending healing vibes out to his family, friends and fans.

Prince, The Kid, Love Symbol or the Purple One will be missed. He experimented and played with musical genres, sexuality, controversy and fashion.

An accomplished guitarist, singer and songwriter with a career spanning about 38 years in music and film.

We hope Princes laid down some serious guitar licks as Vanity drove a Little Red Corvette up to the Purple Galaxy of Rock and Funk.

Ziggy Leaves the Planet Earth - David Bowie

h1 Monday, January 11th, 2016

https://worleygig.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/david-bowie-1973.jpg

As always being a huge fan of David Bowie I was struck but how deep and shocking the news was that David Bowie passed away at age 69 after an 18 month battle with cancer on Sunday, January 10, 2016.

Maybe because David Bowie has always been in the music scene and had an almost immortal status. He was the voice of the different and the unusual during his entire career and was always pushing musical genres. It is amazing when you consider all the various shape shifting personas that David Bowie had, the David Jones mod, Ziggy Stardust with the gender bending sexually outer spaced ego and the well known gentleman Thin White Duke. Bowie’s influences can be seen in music, fashion, art as well as sexuality, gender roles and activism.

Make sure to check out his last release “Blackstar” which came out shortly after his recent birthday.

While I listen to David Bowie and miss our Spaceman who is now having the ultimate jam session in the sky, I ask everyone to please support cancer organizations to keep on battling and finding a cure for cancer and all of us can be Heroes. Love, Healing Vibes and Glitter to his family, friends and fans.

I, I will be king
And you, you will be queen
Though nothing, will drive them away
We can beat them, just for one day
We can be heroes, just for one day

Veterans Day - Wednesday, November 11, 2015

h1 Wednesday, November 11th, 2015

We salute the men and women that in our armed forces.

I walked through a county courthouse square
On a park bench, an old man was sittin’ there.
I said, “Your old court house is kinda run down,
He said, “Naw, it’ll do for our little town”.
I said, “Your old flag pole is leaned a little bit,
And that’s a ragged old flag you got hangin’ on it”.
He said, “Have a seat”, and I sat down,
“Is this the first time you’ve been to our little town”
I said, “I think it is”
He said “I don’t like to brag, but we’re kinda proud of
That Ragged Old Flag

“You see, we got a little hole in that flag there,
When Washington took it across the Delaware.
and It got powder burned the night Francis Scott Key sat watching it,
writing “Say Can You See”
It got a rip in New Orleans, with Packingham & Jackson
tugging at its seams.
and It almost fell at the Alamo
beside the Texas flag,
But she waved on though.
She got cut with a sword at Chancellorsville,
And she got cut again at Shiloh Hill.
There was Robert E. Lee and Beauregard and Bragg,
And the south wind blew hard on
That Ragged Old Flag

“On Flanders Field in World War I,
She got a big hole from a Bertha Gun,
She turned blood red in World War II
She hung limp, and low, a time or two,
She was in Korea, Vietnam, She went where she was sent
by her Uncle Sam.
She waved from our ships upon the briny foam
and now they’ve about quit wavin’ back here at home
in her own good land here She’s been abused,
She’s been burned, dishonored, denied an’ refused,
And the government for which she stands
Has been scandalized throughout out the land.
And she’s getting thread bare, and she’s wearin’ thin,
But she’s in good shape, for the shape she’s in.
Cause she’s been through the fire before
and I believe she can take a whole lot more.

“So we raise her up every morning
And we bring her down slow every night,
We don’t let her touch the ground,
And we fold her up right.
On second thought
I *do* like to brag
Cause I’m mighty proud of
That Ragged Old Flag”
